With just a few days until the 2017 Safer Interned Day, entries for our SID2017 competition are flooding in.

Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 7th February with the slogan ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’.

Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees over 1,000 organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Each year hundreds of organisations come together to promote the safe and responsible use of technology. Last year the campaign reached 40% of UK youth.

E-safety Support - SID2017 Competition

We have been delighted with the number of entries we have so far received for our competition. Here are just a few examples:

Still time to get involved
You still have time to enter our SID2017 competition. To get involved, all your pupils have to do is come up with a positive e-safety acronym using the words CHANGE or UNITE - inspired by the SID2017 theme, Be the Change: Unite for a better Internet.

Encourage pupils to 'Be the change: Unite for a better Internet with our Safer Internet Day Competition

The next ‘Safer Internet Day’ will be the fourteenth edition of the event and will take place worldwide on Tuesday 7th February 2017. The theme this year is:
'Be the Change: Unite for a better Internet'.

SID 2017 Competition

To celebrate the fantastic work being done through Safer Internet Day activities around the world, we are delighted to be running a competition for schools. To get involved, all your pupils have to do is come up with a positive e-safety acronym using the words CHANGE or UNITE - inspired by the SID2017 theme, Be the Change: Unite for a better Internet.

Here's an example:

Cyberbullying
Hurts:
Always
Nurture
Good
E-conduct.

To submit your school entries:

1) Submit your entries by email to competition@e-safetysupport.com clearly stating your school name and the category you are entering.
2) You can also Tweet your entries including the hashtag #esscomp from your school Twitter account.

Entry is open now and schools can enter as many tips as they wish. All entries must be received before midnight on February 6th 2017 to be included in the competition. Please see the competition terms here.

Winners

There will be 6 categories:

Best Primary School UNITE acronym

Best Primary School CHANGE acronym

Best Secondary School UNITE acronym

Best Secondary School CHANGE acronym

Best SEN School UNITE acronym

Best SEN School CHANGE acronym

Winners will be chosen and announced on Safer Internet Day. Winners will receive one years free Premium Plus membership to E-safety Support for their school.

After the winners have been chosen, we will turn the winning entries into some great e-safety posters which schools can download freely from the E-safety Support website.

This competition is open to schools and youth organisations in the UK and schools overseas. You do not have to be a member of E-safety Support to enter.

Entries must be received by midnight on 6th February 2017 to be entered into the competition.

Each entry must be an acronym using the words UNITE or CHANGE to be valid.

By submitting an entry, you agree for the entry to be used on the E-safety Support website as well as on social media platforms. Your school name (but no names of staff of pupils) may also be included on these platforms.

There are 4 categories, Best SEN School UNITE acronym, Best SEN School CHANGE acronym, Best Primary School UNITE acronym, Best Primary School CHANGE acronym, Best Secondary School UNITE acronym and Best Secondary School CHANGE acronym

A winner will be chosen from each category and announced on 7th February 2017 - Safer Internet Day. If you are a winner, we will endeavour to contact you by phone and email on the same day prior to announcement. However, if we are unable to contact you, we will still announce the winning entries on the 7th February.

If you are chosen as a winner, you will be given 1 years free Premium Plus membership to E-safety Support for your school. If you are already a member, the free year will be added to the end of your current membership period. Alternatively, you may choose to nominate another school to receive your prize.

By entering the free prize draw, entrants agree to be bound by the rules and by any other requirements set out in promotional material.
